What is AOV? Average order value explained
AOV (average order value) is the average amount a customer spends per order.
How is AOV calculated?
AOV = revenue ÷ number of orders
Example
$36,000 of revenue from 450 orders is an AOV of $80.
Why does AOV matter for e-commerce?
A higher AOV lets you afford a higher CPA. Bundles, free-shipping thresholds, and upsells are the usual levers.
How does Posta use AOV?
Posta's agents use AOV when reviewing your accounts and recommending changes. See the conversion rate optimization page for how it fits into your workflow.
